From Concept to Reality
Velvetan Donyx was born from a passion for two things: exceptional steak and the social game of poker. Our founders, seasoned restaurateurs and poker enthusiasts, envisioned a place where guests could enjoy a dry-aged ribeye and then settle into a dealer-hosted Texas Hold'em tournament—all under one roof.
The venue opened in 2021 after two years of planning and design. The name “Velvetan Donyx” evokes the smoothness of velvet and the strength of onyx, reflecting the dual nature of our offerings. We partnered with local artisans to create a space that feels both luxurious and welcoming.

Step into Velvetan Donyx and you're greeted by the warm glow of antique amber lighting against smoked mahogany wood. The dining room features plush leather booths and crisp white tablecloths, while the poker lounge offers a more intimate setting with custom-built tables and subtle card-suit motifs.
The dining room seats up to 80 guests. The poker lounge has four professional-grade tables, each with a dedicated dealer. Private poker rooms are available for groups and events.
Craftsmanship in Every Cut
Our head chef, with over 15 years of experience in Australian steakhouses, leads a team dedicated to the art of dry-ageing. We age our beef in-house for a minimum of 28 days, resulting in steaks with intense flavour and tenderness. The menu also features seasonal produce and house-made sauces.
The dry-ageing room is visible from the dining area, offering a glimpse into the craft behind every plate. Our signature dish is the 45-day dry-aged ribeye with smoked bone marrow butter.

Our poker lounge is staffed by professional dealers who ensure every hand is dealt with precision and every player feels welcome. Whether you're new to Texas Hold'em or a seasoned Omaha player, our team is here to facilitate a fun, social experience using tournament chips—no real money ever changes hands.
